PowerBook G3 Pismo Upgrade Guide

Stuck in a rut? Your computer wants to do better. If only it had...

RAM

You've got two RAM slots. Pack 'em in and speed 'er up.

The Pismo has two RAM slots. You can place a 512 MB chip in each one for a whole gigabyte of memory. Browse our Pismo RAM Selection for a chip that suits your need for speed. You must use a low profile chip in the lower slot, but the upper slot can be whatever you choose. Don't forget to install it using our free Fixit Guide.

Hard Drive

Expand your horizons and your hard drive.

Remember when you bought your Pismo and wondered how you are ever going to use up 10 GB of hard drive space? Ahh, the naivete of youth. Store a lifetime of pictures and movies without having to trade in that comfortable feel of your little black box. Browse our hard drives for one that fits your storage needs.

Oh, and with our tools and instructions, you can even install it yourself!

Processor

Running a 400 MHz Processor? Bump it up.

If you are running a Pismo on a 400 Mhz Processor, try bumping it up to 500 MHz. It's as easy as replacing the processor. There are third party G4 Processors out there, but we have not found them to be reliable enough to suggest using a particular brand.

You can even install it yourself!

Optical Drive

Tired of a mild mannered cd drive? Try a blazing fast 8x SuperDrive!

Since your computer's birth, cds and dvds have come a long way. Give yourself to create dvds and back up your important files with a superdrive. Here are the compatible drives.

Install your new optical drive yourself. If you choose a new drive, you may have to transfer the casing from your old optical drive to your new one.
